The German Blue Rose label has over the years acquired an excellent reputation as purveyor of American roots music. The label focuses virtually exclusively on American artists. Virtually, because with Markus Rill, this German label has exactly one compatriot in their catalogue. Rill is an experienced musician since The Price Of Sin is already his fifth album. The Wuerzburg-based singer-songwriter has steadily improved and seems to have reached his peak with The Price Of Sin. It is impossible to distinguish Markus Rill from some of the finest American songwriters. The Price Of Sin is enjoyable, profound, sultry and expressive. In short, everything Americana should be - which is indeed a high compliment for a German singer-songwriter.
