Clean guitar picking and a distinctive
smoky voice
Markus Rill mesmerizes audience at the end of the Stargard
concert season
Burg Stargard (oe) 120 music lovers at the castle restaurant
"Zur Alten Münze" (At The Old Coin) enjoyed songs
between country, folk, and blues at the end of Burg Stargard festival
society's concert season. Singer and songwriter Markus Rill and
singer Rachel Harrington delivered a note-perfect set. Clean fingerpicking
on guitar and banjo and Markus Rill's distinctive smoky voice
- that was the stuff Wednesday night's dreams were made of. Rachel
Harrington's voice - reminiscent of Emmylou Harris's - added to
the audience's enthusiastic response.
Mostly playing originals, the Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash songs
they threw in were easily recognizable. Excursions into the Folk-
and Hippie time of the 60ies lead back to the songs of contemporary
American songwriters.
