Hiya folks,

hooray, it's September :-)

August was mostly filled with preparatory work for recording the new album. Can't wait to fly into Nashville to start work on the follow-up to "Hobo Dream". Once again, I'll be recording at George Bradfute's Tone Chaparrall. We've got a wonderful band rounded up.

I don't want to name any names for fear of jinxing it but if everything goes as planned we'll have great players from John Prine's band and Buddy Miller's band on board. I'll have the pleasure of playing with some of the finest musicians I've ever heard.
And I think I've got some strong material so we should be able to come up with something well worth listening to, don'tcha think? We'll start work on the new record on October 5 so keep your fingers crossed, folks.

In August we laid down a bunch more songs for the upcoming release of Los Solitary Men/The Handsome Brothers/whatever that band will be called by the time the record comes out. Either way, I think it'll be a fun CD to listen to with some of our all-time favorite country & rock'n'roll songs recorded live in one (or two) rooms, the way it's s'posed to be done! My good friend Bernie Batke of Smokestack Lightnin' played some pumpin' doghouse bass on those sessions.
I hope we can get that CD out to y'all this year.

And more good news from the movie people. DirectorsLtd. who are using two of my songs in the upcoming designated horror blockbuster "Last Stand" picked up another song of mine entitled "Haunted House" for their new movie "Lost On The B-Side".
I wrote that song in January in a Nashville motel room. Go figure. But since that's where I'll be spending most of my October nights, all you movie moguls out there had better perk your ears for what I'll be coming up with next.

There's some new pictures in the gallery from our acoustic trio show at the Immerhin in July.
And for those of you who know this here website inside-out, you might want to check out my new profile at Sonicbids.
You'll find an audio file of a new song called "Broken Puppet" there. This is the home demo version; the arranged version will be on the new album. I'm kinda partial to that song.

By the way, I've set up a few short notice solo gigs before my departure. Check out the tour dates.

All banter aside ... my thoughts are with the people in the American South. It's a region I've traveled many times and I love dearly. I'm at a loss for words but the pictures I see on the news really shake me up.

So folks, I hope you and your loved ones are all well. Lend a helping hand if you can and take good care of yourselves,
Markus
