Würzburg, May 17, 2005

Hi folks,

some good stuff is in the pipeline.

I'll be flying into Seattle, Wa. next week to play the Northwest Folklife Festival. I've got a slot on the Songwriter Showcase on Sat., May 28, and on "Knockin' On Dylan's Door", a tribute to the great Bob Dylan on Sun, May 29. Both shows will be aired live on KBCS radio. You can also listen to the webstream at www.kbcs.fm
A new song of mine called "Broken Puppet" will be played live on the KBCS radio and the web on Sunday, May 22, at 7 pm in a show dedicated to some Folklife performers. The festival people also gave me a cool write up in their program: "Markus Rill has a Texas-style Americana growl shaken (not stirred) into the dusty dirt road of his guitar playing." I'm not quite sure what it means but I do like how it sounds.

I'll play a few more shows in the American Northwest next week with the wonderful Rachel Harrington and some of her friends and fellow Folklife performers. Check out the live dates section.

Unfortunately, the Texas Music Night in Hamburg scheduled for June 16 was canceled by the organizers. Too bad, I sure would've loved to play up in Hamburg. So all you German fans had better come out to our hometown festival show at the Umsonst & Draußen in Würzburg.

We're also working on setting up a few shows in July so keep checking in for updates.

I'm also doing some recording this week for an upcoming new album by country/rockabilly band Will Handsome. We laid down cool versions of a self-penned original rock'n'roll song and two fine cover songs. More info on that project as it develops.

So I'll hope to see you soon, folks. Drop me a note in the guestbook or send an email to Rill@bigfoot.com if you want to order a copy of The Hobo Companion (see the reviews and news archive sections).

Take care and stay in touch,
Markus
