Ten Bucks' Worth
Of Gas

| The first verse came out really
good, I think. There's something to be said for not giving
up even though the odds are stacked against you. This song
is not about naïve, youthful rebellion. The guy in this
song is a little more weathered but he still refuses to cave
in. We'd never played that song live before we recorded it
but I really wanted to teach it to the band and record it.
Alex Klebl added some nice Wurlitzer. |

The disillusioned ones have given
up
But I'm not gonna join their ranks
Though I can't afford to fill 'er up
I'm gonna put ten dollars in the tank

We both know I've been outta luck
There's times I've cussed and there were times I drank
But now I got my mind made up
I'm gonna put ten dollars in the tank

Ten bucks' worth of gas
can get us anywhere if we go fast
Everyone will talk about how we ran
On just ten dollars in the tank

Now I've got a brand new plan
My last ten bucks are my last chance
Pitch in, girl, take my hand
We're gonna put ten dollars in the tank

Ten bucks' worth of gas
can get us anywhere if we go fast
Everyone will talk about how we ran
On just ten dollars in the tank

Girl, it's all your choice
You can come along or you can stay
Boys will be boys
But this man's gonna leave here either way

Ten bucks' worth of gas
can get us anywhere if we go fast
Everyone will talk about how we ran
On just ten dollars in the tank
